ABOUT US

Welcome to the Holistic Honu Wellness Center—a place of healing and cultural preservation, established with a deep commitment to promoting harmony and well-being. Since November 24, 2004, and receiving our 501(c)(3) status in February 2006, we have proudly served as a California not-for-profit healing center, devoted to upholding and sharing the wisdom of the Hawaiian culture through education and healing.

At the Holistic Honu Wellness Center, we firmly believe that true health and well-being can only be achieved when we address the spiritual, mental, and emotional aspects of an individual. This holistic approach, passed down by our ancestors, forms the foundation of our mission to create lokahi, or harmony, in the lives of those we serve.

Our range of cultural healing services is designed to honor and preserve the rich traditions of the Hawaiian people. We offer hoʻoponopono/counseling to bring about reconciliation and balance, laʻau kahea/prayers and chants to uplift and heal, laʻau lapaʻau/herbal therapy to harness the natural remedies of the land, and lomilomi/touch therapy to restore physical and spiritual alignment. While our program focus is on benefiting Native Hawaiians, it has always been our unwavering policy to extend our services to all individuals seeking education and healing.

The roots of the Holistic Honu Wellness Center run deep, stemming from the vision of our senior Kupuna or Elder Council members. Their dedication to preserving and revitalizing Native Hawaiian traditional healing has guided us throughout our history. In response to the needs of our community, we evolved to provide medical intervention and palliative care, addressing the health disparities faced by Native Hawaiians. Emphasizing health literacy, we have developed programs to address these crucial issues, further supporting the well-being of our community.

Our main office in Berkeley, California, offers therapeutic massage and traditional healing services, but that's not all. We take immense pride in our comprehensive education program in Native Hawaiian Healing Arts and Hula. Our courses delve into Hawaiian culture, history, language, rituals, and protocols, ensuring that these valuable traditions continue to thrive. Our instructors have undergone traditional instruction and training, successfully completing traditional graduation protocols, guaranteeing that the knowledge shared is authentic and true to our heritage.

Whether you're seeking healing, education, or a deeper connection with the Hawaiian culture, we warmly invite you. The Holistic Honu Wellness Center is here to embrace all individuals on their journey to well-being and enlightenment. Step into our cultural preservation and healing sanctuary, and let us walk this path of harmony together.

HAWAIIAN HEALING ARTS

Lomilomi Massage

Our award winning Level One - Fundamentals of Hawaiian Health Practices course is designed to integrate the study and perpetuation of Hawaiian health practices through a language arts curriculum based on traditional Hawaiian stories. The curriculum addresses the intellectual, social, emotional, physical, and cultural practices of health and is a proven valuable cultural competency program for medical health professionals and community practitioners.

Our Lomilomi Massage program is a rigorous massage series designed to provide students and practitioners with a better understanding of Lomilomi and Traditional Hawaiian Healing Arts. this program is NOT designed to compete with other Lomilomi programs, but to ENHANCE other programs - it is for those who want to explore more of this practice than just the body work.

HAWAIIAN HEALING ARTS

Level Two:
Apprenticeship

Our Level Two - Apprenticeship program is a three year externship and student mentor program. It is from within our Level Two program where we offer much of our Traditional Healing services to the general public through faculty supervised student clinics. When it comes to payment or fee-schedules, we follow the old protocol of hoʻokupu/tribute.

HAWAIIAN HEALING ARTS
